Michael Effiong, PhD is a seasoned Petroleum Engineer with nearly two decades of experience in the energy sector, specializing in oil & gas and carbon storage. His career spans leadership and technical roles in upstream engineering, operations, project management, and strategy development, with a strong focus on Asset Development Planning, Reservoir Management, and Production System Optimization across diverse global projects.
As ExxonMobil’s first Principal Production Engineer, Michael co-led the inception, strategy, and transformation for the corporate-wide Production Optimization Capability. His PhD research in carbon storage and CO2 sequestration underscores his commitment to advancing net-zero ambitions in the energy industry.
Michael is the first African-American and Nigerian to earn a PhD in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Houston. He holds degrees from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), and the University of Houston, and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is also dedicated to community service.

Sade’s robust experience spans strategy development, concept selection, FEED/EPCm, and contractor engagement. Her ability to navigate union labor relations and foster personnel development further underscores her capacity to deliver results that matter.
Sade holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s degree in Engineering Management from Cornell University.
